I'm Johan, a cinematographer based in Stuttgart and Hamburg.

I studied applied arts, design and media at Merz Akademie, and since 2023 I've been at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, working on independent projects alongside work for Arte and SWR.

Documentary work is where I feel most at home. Not because I'm looking for aesthetics in reality, but because I want to translate what I perceive in a real situation onto screen as directly as possible.

I also take on client work: brand films, photography, colour grading, and social media content. I work both solo and in teams, adapting to whatever the project calls for.
